Dyne Bio Inc. has developed a new food processing enzyme, β-agarase, from Streptomycescoelicolor which is soil microorganism.
In general, Streptomyces coelicolor is an actinomyces which forms a colony and is structurally
similar to fungi. Actinomycetes are well known for industrial strains producing industrial enzymes and antibiotics,
etc.
However, we succeeded in producing β-agarase and it has been approved for new food additive by
Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) in Rep. of Korea.
We developed new manufacturing process of neoagaro-oligosaccharides (Dyne-NAO),
a new bioactive compound, by hydrolyzing the specific binding of agar using microbial enzyme
β-agarase.
